TinyTM
- Web Appliations
Why does TinyTM need a Web frontend? There are several reasons:
- Maintenance Screens
Any serious user needs a way to setup user accounts and group memberships.
Also, maintenance screens are necessary to modify slow changing parameters
such as the list source- and target languages etc.
- Web Translation
Some organizations do not want their translators to copy texts to a local
computer or for other reasons want the translators to work on a Web interface.
- Translation Workflow
Once basic web translation is in place, it becomes possible to develop
sophisticated workflows to control the folow of information between translators,
editors, proof readers and the project managers in a project.
We asume that a number of different web applications will emerge for TinyTM
with time.
Available Web Applications
At the time of writing (2008-04-10) there is one Web application available:
- ]project-open[ Web Application
]project-open[ (http://www.project-open.org/)
is an open-source based translation project management system. A variant
of the TinyTM data model exists in order to
run TinyTM as part of ]project-open[. This configuration allows to use
the ]project-open[ maintenance screens to manage TinyTM users, groups
etc.
In order to install TinyTM + ]project-open[, please download and install
the "project-open-VMware-3.2.zip" installer from the ]po[
download area and then go to the TinyTM download page and download
"intranet-tinytm.v01.tgz" and follow the included README.
Note: TinyTM has been initiated by members of the ]project-open[ team.
